How to use Compress PDF
Add your PDF.
Press “Compress PDF”. By default nothing visible is changed.
Compare the sizes and download the result. Optionally tick “Also reduce photo quality” if you need an even smaller file.
About this tool
FILEZY uses lossless compression: it re-packs the data inside the PDF more efficiently, removes wrapping that makes streams bigger, drops unused leftovers and merges identical embedded resources. The decoded content of every part of the document stays byte-for-byte the same, so pages look identical, text stays sharp and selectable, and nothing is turned into a picture.
How much this saves depends on how the PDF was created. Files exported with generous settings can shrink a lot; files that are already tightly packed may shrink only a little or not at all. Large reductions usually come from lowering image quality, which FILEZY only does if you explicitly tick the optional photo setting.
Frequently asked questions
Will compression reduce the quality of my PDF?
No. By default the compression is lossless: text, fonts, vector graphics and images stay exactly the same. Only if you tick the optional “reduce photo quality” box are embedded photos re-saved at slightly lower quality.
Why didn't my PDF get much smaller?
Without lowering quality there is a limit to what can be saved. If the PDF was already well packed, or most of its size is fonts and already-compressed photos, the saving is small. We never blur a document just to hit a smaller number.
